Ruhr University Bochum (RUB)

Founded in 1965, Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) was the first university in the Ruhr region. Today, it has approximately 40,000 students, 6,471 employees and 21 faculties offering 214 different degree programmes, making it one of Germany’s largest universities.
Spanning the full spectrum of natural sciences, engineering, life sciences and humanities, RUB’s research excellence is based on interdisciplinary networking. The impact of these results resonates not only on the international scientific community, but also throughout our society and the region, having fundamentally guided their transformation from the very beginning. As a cradle for start-ups, it currently ranks sixth in Germany.
